Anna Jagiellonian (23. 7. 1503 - 27. 1. 1547) - wife of Czech, German and Hungarian King Ferdinand I. Habsburg. Her parents were Vladislav II. Jagiello and his third wife Anna of Foix.
Anna Jagiellonian was the older sister of Louis Jagiello, who tragically died at the Battle of Mohacs. Both siblings in childhood betrothed to the grandchildren of Emperor Maximilian I.
Anna was ultimately destined Habsburg Archduke Ferdinand, whom she officially married in 1521. Still, it was a politically motivated marriage (the reason was strengthening alliance with the Habsburgs Jagiellonians), both spouses have a happy, fulfilling relationship that resulted in fifteen children.
After the death of Louis won Ferdinand, heir to the throne as the husband is entitled to the Czech crown. Czech nobility, however, did not recognize this right and demanded the choice that eventually actually occurred. Ferdinand succeeded, and so could be the royal couple February 24, 1527 in Prague crowned. Anna Jagiellonian died shortly after the birth of their daughter Johanna, her remains lie in Prague's St. Vitus Cathedral.
