National Jubilee Exhibition in Prague - held in Prague in 1891 for the centenary of the first industrial exhibition in the Czech capital.
The inspiration for Czech organizers of the Hungarian General Exhibition in Budapest, which took place in 1885. Two years later he founded the Commission for the establishment of a permanent exhibition building in Prague. One of the main organizers and promoters all thought he was a businessman and politician Bohumil Bondy. The intention we succeeded in Vysoke Bohemia Kingdom, despite the disapproval of German deputies, so that in November 1888 he created a committee to prepare the exhibition. The seven-member committee sat and significant Czech engineer and inventor Frantiek Kik. The resolution that the exhibition will be held in 1891 but boycotted German businessmen demanded postponement of the year. They wanted to reduce the importance of the exhibition, which would not be a jubilee. Czechs dislike Germans had encouraged and welcomed that the exhibition becomes a purely Czech national affairs. Their enthusiasm was amplified by a report that the Emperor Francis I. received a request for patronage for the exhibition and even promised to come in person. Instead of a new exhibition became a Royal Deer Park. Preparatory work disrupted Heavy floods in late summer 1890, which hit the fairgrounds and inflicted major damage on the property under construction Industrial Palace, which collapsed four arches steel structures.
Neither these serious problems, however enthusiastic organizers, supported by the Czech public has not deterred. Exposure to encompass almost all branches of industry sectors across the health, to social life.
On the occasion of the Jubilee Exhibition were put into the new funicular to Petn and summer, the public has also opened a new Petrin Tower. Another important achievement was the commencement of operation of the first electric railway in Prague's Letna. The track built Frantisek Krizik, who also took care of the lighting of the exhibition. A sensation then became Kikova light fountain.
